Lolak Afrique is an Authentic African Buka in South East/South West London. The journey to sharing our African dishes with Londoners started in 1991.
Founded by Mama Lolak, as she is popularly known in Nigerian Community. Mama Lolak’s passion for cooking started at a young age, coming from a trading family who travelled and lived in Kano state & Lagos state Nigeria.
On arrival to England in 1991, Mama worked for the Department British Home Stores (BHS) as a kitchen assistant, quickly working her way up to Chef and Head chef where she received numerous recognition awards. Alongside her permanent job she, delivered food to Nigerian emigrants in London by Cab and at local Cab offices as well as making private meals for Nigerian dignitaries on special visits to London, which included the former Stateman of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo.
In 1994, Mama Lolak resigned from her Permanent Job to open her first shop in a single Unit on Choumert Road, Peckham SE15 where she makes sure to test her dishes before they are ready to be served.
Lolak Afrique has grown exponentially due to the demand from our people, now serving from three Branches in Peckham, Foresthill and Tulsehill.
Lolak Afrique founded in 1996 is a family run West African Cuisine which started in the heart of Peckham. Our unique cooking sauces using a special blend of African Scotch Bonnet, and tomatoes which create the base for our sauces has continued to warm the hearts of Our African People and other ethnic Communities.
Our ingredients are specially sourced from reputable companies and imported from Nigeria and other countries in West Africa. Lolak Afrique will take you back to the heart of Motherland and for those who have never been, an experience to look forward to.
Our Popular and authentic dishes include Abula, Orishirishi (Assorted Meat), Ponmo, Moi Moi Olele, Asaro and Ewa Agoyin amongst others to be washed down with Malta Guinness, Coca-Cola, Fanta, Schweppes and La Casera on the list of Drinks not forgetting our exciting Nigerian Snacks also available to whet your appetite.
